Man of the hour Tom Holland has just lined up his next big role. As of now, most everyone is talking about the impending release of Spider-Man: No Way Home, a superhero epic that concludes Holland’s first Spidey trilogy in a very big way. Ahead of the premiere, it’s just been announced he’ll play late singer, dancer, and choreographer Fred Astaire in a feature biopic, confirming producer Amy Pascal’s recent comments in Holland’s GQ profile that she was gunning for him to get that role.

“Oh, I am playing Fred Astaire,” Holland told AP, bluntly announcing his casting. “The script came in a week ago; I haven’t read it yet. They haven’t given it to me. I know Amy Pascal has the script. She Facetimed me earlier when I was in the bath and we had a lovely Facetime. But I will be playing Fred Astaire.”

Not a lot of information has been revealed about this project, but it’s separate from another movie that’s in development which also includes Fred Astaire as a part of the story. Amazon and Automatik are working on Fred & Ginger with Jamie Bell as Astaire and Margaret Qualley as Ginger Rogers. The movie chronicles the love story of the dance partners on and off-screen. Jonathan Entwistle is directing that biopic with a script by Arash Amel.

Tom Holland is obviously keeping himself busy with the roles lining up. After Spider-Man: No Way Home, fans can anticipate seeing Holland take on another big role when he plays Nathan Drake in the upcoming Uncharted movie, based on the popular video game series. If that turns out to be the big hit many are expecting it to be, Holland could end up sticking with that role for a while. Holland is also on board to play a man with multiple personality disorder, Billy Millligan, in the Apple TV+ series The Crowded Room. That doesn’t mean he’s wrapping things up with his run as Peter Parker, as Amy Pascal has also recently announced Sony’s plans to develop another Spidey trilogy with Holland back as his incarnation of the famous superhero.

“This is not the last movie that we are going to make with Marvel – [this is not] the last Spider-Man movie,” Pascal told Fandango. “We are getting ready to make the next Spider-Man movie with Tom Holland and Marvel. We’re thinking of this as three films, and now we’re going to go onto the next three. This is not the last of our MCU movies.”

In response to this announcement, Tom Holland later told Quotidien, “Listen, all I’ll say is we have some very, very exciting things to be talking about. I don’t know what those things are or what they will transpire to mean. But it looks like it’s an incredibly bright future ahead, and as I’ve said before, Spider-Man will forever live in me.”

For now, let’s just look forward to seeing what really happens in Spider-Man: No Way Home, as there are so many rumors floating around it’s hard to say at this point. The movie will be released in theaters on Dec. 17, 2021. This news comes to us from Deadline.
